A new standard material for Labelisten: labels that are great for PET recycling

Our standard label material just got more sustainable: white PP film with permanent, PET-separable adhesive – designed for clean PET recycling. Same properties, same quality, better for the loop.
Neues Standardmaterial bei den Labelisten: Etiketten, die das PET-Recycling lieben

We’ve quietly but thoroughly upgraded our most widely used label material: from now on, we’re printing on white PP film with a permanent, PET-separable adhesive. This material has been specially developed for the recycling of PET packaging. For you, nothing changes in terms of how you use it. For the environment – quite a lot.

What’s it all about, anyway?

PET is one of the most valuable plastics in the recycling cycle. Old bottles are turned into new bottles, fibres for textiles or food packaging. For this cycle to work properly, the PET must be clean, and this is precisely where label adhesives have often been a problem in the past. Adhesive residues on the PET flakes can disrupt the recycling process and reduce the quality of the recycled material.

Our new standard adhesive is designed specifically for this task: during the recycling process, it separates cleanly from the PET flakes – no adhesive film is left behind, saving the sorting plant the trouble.

How clean separation works

Imagine the recycling process as if it were a big wash:

The result: two clean material streams instead of one contaminated one. It sounds simple, but it makes a real difference in the cycle.

What will change for you?

The short answer: nothing. And that’s the good news.

The new material has the same processing and printing properties as the previous white PP film material. Adhesive strength, print quality, finishing options – everything is as usual. You order your label as usual, and we deliver it as usual. The only difference is that it’s on a substrate that better supports the recycling process.

What is this material particularly suitable for?

Wherever your label ends up on PET packaging, our new adhesive really comes into its own. Specifically, this means:

  • Plastic jars: for dietary supplements, food, cosmetics
  • PET bottles: for drinks, personal care products, cleaning products
  • Glass jars: other containers: where a permanent hold needs to be combined with sustainable separability

As before, the material is less suitable for paper packaging (difficult to separate) and reusable packaging (permanent adhesive cannot be washed off). For such cases, we offer alternatives in our range, such as our white PP film with removable adhesive.

Why we do this

For us, sustainability isn’t something that belongs in a glossy brochure, but in our day-to-day operations. We regularly ask ourselves: where can we improve our materials, processes or supply chains a little bit, without you having to compromise on quality or appearance in the end?

The switch to PET-separable material is precisely one such adjustment. It happens behind the scenes, so to speak, yet still makes a real difference: every label we print on this material from now on is one more that becomes part of the solution rather than a problem in the recycling cycle.

And the best bit is: you don’t need to change your thinking or reorder. We simply deliver better.

Do you want to have a feel of it?

Sure. Simply order our sample pack – that way you can hold the new standard material in your hands, compare it and test it for yourself. Or have a sample run printed and try it out directly on your packaging.

Do you have any questions about the material, its suitability for your product or switching over your current labels? Then get in touch – we’d be happy to go through it all with you.
